The best auto vacuum for pet hair Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair on Hardwood Floors

A quality robot vacuum cleaner can make a huge difference in the elimination of allergens such as dust and pet hair. However, not all models are identical.

honiture-robot-vacuum-cleaner-with-mop-4There are a variety of options to choose from, whether you want a pet-friendly vacuum or a robot to work with your other cleaner.

1. Eufy RoboVac Edge G30

The G30 Edge is the newest model in Eufy's budget line of robot vacuum cleaners. The G30 Edge is a shining black vacuum mop pet hair cleaner with blue and rose gold accents. It looks like a smartphone. It's easier to use than previous models and comes with features such as BoostIQ that automatically increases suction power for cleaner cleaning of all surfaces. It also makes use of smart navigation to avoid repeating the same areas repeatedly, which is which is a common issue with simpler bounce-navigation systems.

It does a great job of picking up pet hair and crumbs from hard floors, but it falls behind the best models in cleaning up dust on carpet. In our tests, it missed 74% of the dust on hard floors and 26% of the powder on carpet.

The G30 Edge is unique in its ability to map your home using a digital map. This lets it remember the rooms it has cleaned, and avoid returning to them. This is a major issue for the more basic robots that require the use old-fashioned magnetic taps to define no-go zones.

The G30 Edge also has other conveniences. It has an "Find My Robot" mode that blasts out loud music until it is located and a directional keypad that lets you manually move the robot. It also comes with an auto return function that sends it back to its charging station when the battery is empty, an important security feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D-Shape robot is a powerful machine with a wide array of intelligent features. It can clean floors well and climb up high-pile carpets easily. The app also has advanced features such as boundary lines remote control access while the robot is operating and a range of other options.

This model is the newest in a long series of robots from Neato and has a distinctive "D" shape when seen from above. This design has several advantages, such as improved corner cleaning and a bigger bin of dust than other models. The D-shape lets the robot to get under furniture more easily than models that have a circular design.

When first starting a cleaning cycle, the D-Shape will stop for a moment to make use of infrared lasers that spin to scan and assess the space. It will then begin to clean in a grid pattern and move in a systematic manner from one area to another until the floor is completely covered. This method of cleaning is much more effective and thorough than the random approach employed by other companies.

The design of the D-Shape allows it to have a massive 700ml dust bin, compared to 400-600ml for robots of the same price. This capacity increase will save you time and effort by reducing the frequency of emptying the bin. The D-Shape also has a flat front side that helps it get over obstacles like chairs and tables. In our tests the D-Shape did end up getting stuck under a four-legged stool as well as an electrical cord that was exposed, though it was able to break free each time.

3. Roomba i3+ EVO

The Roomba i3+ EVO is a fantastic choice for pet owners. It does well on hard floors and does a great job of removing debris like rice, cereal and pet hair. It is a bit shaky on carpet, but is better than the majority of robots in this price range. The Roomba i3+ EVO is also extremely efficient at moving between floor types and doesn't get caught up on transitions the way older models can. The dual multi-surface brushes are flexible and adapt to different flooring types. They also aren't able to tangle pet hair.

The i3+ EVO has less obstacle avoidance capability than the other robots that we tested. It repeatedly ran into objects like handbags, pet toys, and even shoes before continuing its course. It also had trouble dealing with salt that was coarse which it blew up and around rather than picking up.

The i3+ EVO comes with a variety of features that make it worth the extra cost over other Roomba models, like self-emptying bins and advanced control via the app. You can schedule cleanings, set custom routines, and create zones that do not want the robot access. Its intelligent scheduling can even suggest additional cleaning during allergy seasons, and based on the routine you follow. The system for navigation is not reliable and can cause vacuums to be erratic patterns such as diagonals or zigzags instead of parallel to walls.

4. Shark AI Self-Empty XL

With a detailed mapping technology, this intelligent robot is able to know your home better than you can. It comes with two brushes that adjust to different kinds of floors and are able to avoid tangling. This makes it the perfect choice for homes that have pets. You can use the app to control the robot or activate it with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The dock, which is called Omni automates tasks like refilling and cleaning robot's water tanks, emptying the debris bins, and charging and drying the mop pads.

It's a great value. The Shark AI Self-Empty XL offers many advanced features, including mapping and a self-emptying bin that can store a lot of debris. It cleaned and maneuvered exceptionally well in a space with a mix of low-pile carpeting or floors that were unfinished and a mixture of both. The vacuum also does a good job of picking up pet hair from carpets however it's not equipped with the same level of power as our top selections.

The Roborock S4 Max, however, is more durable, recharges faster than the Shark and comes with a wider range of automation features and scheduling options and support for "no-go zones". We'd still recommend the Shark if you're looking for something cheaper or in the event that you prefer using your mobile phone to monitor and control your device rather than a dedicated remote.

5. Bissell SpinWave Wet and home Dry

It's difficult to find a machine that can combine mopping and vacuuming This one does just that. Its two-tank system powerfully vacuums or mops with the touch of the button. It effortlessly shifted between surfaces in our tests and was successful in getting pet hair off of carpets and hardwood floors. It also comes with an edge-sweeping tool for removing hairs from baseboards and walls.

This is a great choice if you are looking for a robot that is affordable and has some extra features. It was able to negotiate obstacles well during our testing and can be controlled by an app or voice. It even supports scheduled cleanings and has a large trash bin to collect mess before they get full. The only downside is that it can take up to 166 minutes to complete its task however that's still much better than the majority of robots we've evaluated.

This robot's front-facing camera allows you to track the cleanliness of your home's cleanliness on a map using an app. It's particularly helpful if you're trying to locate something specific or the kids spill glitter from your holiday decorations all over your floors. You can save yourself much frustration by finding the lost item immediately. Plus the battery that is fade-free can last for up to 130 minutes on a single charge.

6. Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an elegant robot that can provide solid cleaning. It is very good in maneuvering and can go under furniture that is low without stumbling. It's also a good choice for carpets with low pile. It is prone to getting stuck on rug tassels and it is unable to navigate small spaces such as corners. It also has trouble getting pet hair off all surfaces.

Despite the 694's lack of features however, it still performs better than most of the competition. It scored a perfect 10 in our test of cereal carpet, and did well in our test of cat litter with only a couple of fragments. It's less efficient on hardwood floors. Its side brush scatters large cereal pieces that stick to the floor instead of being vacuumed. It also had a tough time collecting table salt from a bare floor, with lots of pieces falling across the floor and beyond its reach.

It supports app control through the iRobot HOME app and voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant (via an external device, home purchased separately). It learns about your cleaning habits and creates personalized schedules. Cliff Detect and a edge-sweeping tool ensure that it gets into areas that are difficult to reach, and Dirt Detect sensors alert the robot to heavily soiled spots. Its battery lasts about 60 minutes, and it comes with a self-emptying dustbin. The pricier iRobot j7 has a more advanced set of features and is more stable on all surfaces. It also feels better constructed, has a larger dustbin, charges faster, and navigates obstacles like electrical cords more easily.
